“In March 2006, I injured my lower back while lifting a heavy bag at work. I work for an airline, and my job entails some heavy lifting. An MRI showed a bulge at L4-5. A year later, I aggravated the injury and was out of work for six months. I went through physical therapy, massage therapy, and a lot of pain medication. I could not sit or stand for more than 30 minutes without experiencing pain and discomfort. My legs started getting numb, and I had a couple of bad falls when my leg just gave out on me. I couldn’t drive for more than 10 minutes because I’d lose feeling in my legs. I couldn’t travel, which I love to do, because I could not endure a 4 hour plane ride.
